About Us

Club History – Being added to all of the time

Warminster Camera Club was formed in 1978 following a very good response to an advertisement in the local press placed by local professional photographer, David Wilshire. Shortly after formation, the club became affiliated to the Western Counties Photographic Federation of which it’s still a member.

In 1990 it was a founder member, along with twelve other clubs, of the Multi Club Photographic Group.  Although the Multi Club no longer exists a number of competitions, originally run by the Multi Club, are still supported by the original members.

2003 was our 25th Anniversary and in May the club website was started.  We were fortunate to get a Lottery grant towards our digital imaging equipment.

At our 30th Anniversary in 2008 we produced for the local library (and for the second time) a photographic record of all the major streets in Warminster.

The club continues to evolve and change and, as with all social clubs, some members stay for a very long time while others come and go fairly quickly.  In 2014 two very long time members, Don Harrison and Geoff Sims, were awarded Life Membership in grateful thanks for all the help they have given to the club and its members over the years.

For the 2015-2016 season Ron Kelly and Marny Thompson put together another great programme that had something for everybody with a selection of good speakers, practical sessions and also utilised some of the talent from within the club membership itself.  The Members’ Presentation Evenings have been very well prepared, and very polished, giving us the opportunity to see more than just competition images.  For the upcoming 2016-17 season Marny Thompson and Paul Duckworth are currently finalising the programme which will be published as soon as it’s finished.

New members are welcome at any time during the club’s season so come along and see what Warminster Camera Club has to offer you.  If you require more information please contact the Chairman, Marny Thompson LRPS please use the “Contact Us” page on the web site.  The address that receives these is monitored regularly and your message will be forwarded to Marny.
